The best contractors are invisible online

The American trades industry is one of the largest and most underserved markets in the country. Millions of HVAC technicians, roofers, plumbers, and electricians keep homes running — and nearly all of them are losing business every single week because they can't be found online.

This isn't a talent gap. It's a visibility gap. I built TradesXL to close it. My background spans HVAC distribution, electrical manufacturing, and residential roofing — I've watched excellent contractors lose jobs to worse competitors who simply had a better Google presence or a more consistent social feed. The skills that make someone a great tradesperson are the same skills that leave them with zero time for content creation, brand management, or digital marketing.

A single SaaS tool couldn't fix this. The problem is multi-layered: contractors need automated content, operational intelligence, and a trustworthy brand presence — all working together. That's why TradesXL is an ecosystem, not just an app.

The core diagnosis

Contractors don't have a motivation problem — they have a friction problem. They need marketing infrastructure that works exactly like their tools: reliably, without instruction, every single time.

A $50B industry with no real digital playbook

There are over 10 million self-employed contractors in the United States. The home services market generates hundreds of billions in revenue annually, and the vast majority of those businesses are single-owner or small-team operations that have no dedicated marketing function.

The initial target is focused on the highest-margin trades: HVAC and roofing contractors in Central Ohio and the surrounding Midwest region. These are businesses averaging $500K–$3M in annual revenue, with established operations, real overhead, and the most to gain from consistent digital visibility. After proving the model locally within a 100-mile radius of Columbus, the playbook scales nationally.

Three tools. One complete marketing operation.

TradesXL is the parent brand for a suite of AI-powered marketing products purpose-built for the trades. Each product solves a distinct problem, but they're designed to work together as a single, compounding system. A contractor who uses all three has a content pipeline, an operational edge, and a brand presence that outpaces every competitor still doing marketing manually.

Operational Intelligence

AI-powered business intelligence that surfaces exactly where a contractor is losing money — wasted materials, underpriced jobs, inefficient crew routes. TradesLogic converts job data into margin insights that most contractors never see, turning operational waste into recovered profit. The average contractor leaks over $1,000/month in preventable inefficiencies. TradesLogic finds it.

Brand & Reputation

A complete AI brand and reputation layer for tradespeople who want to look like the premium option in their market. TradesLook manages review generation, brand consistency across all digital touchpoints, and visual identity — turning a truck wrap and a Google listing into a recognizable local brand homeowners remember and refer.

A SaaS funnel that leads to full-service

TradesXL is designed with a deliberate two-stage revenue model. The SaaS products are the entry point — affordable, self-serve, immediately valuable. But the end game is building a client relationship deep enough to justify full-service marketing retainers: strategy, paid media, brand development, and hands-on execution.

The products build trust by delivering results first. By the time a contractor has used TradesSnap for 60 days and seen their Google profile gain traction, they're already a warm prospect for a $2,000/month retainer. The SaaS is the top of funnel. The services are where the real margin lives.

01

Local Market Entry

Columbus, Ohio and a 100-mile radius. HVAC and roofing first. Prove results, collect case studies, generate referrals.

02

Product Expansion

TradesLogic and TradesLook launch as upsells to existing clients. Increase LTV without new customer acquisition cost.

03

Midwest Expansion

Replicate the Columbus playbook across Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh with minimal overhead.

04

National Scale

The SaaS products scale without geographic limits. Every new market is a self-service entry point into the full ecosystem.

Built lean. Built to scale.

Every component was chosen for reliability, low overhead, and the ability to add clients without adding headcount. The pipeline runs automatically — from the moment a contractor submits a voice note to the moment their content is published across three platforms.

SaaS revenue today. Retainer revenue tomorrow.

TradesXL generates revenue at two levels. The SaaS products deliver compounding monthly recurring revenue with near-zero marginal cost per new client. The full-service marketing retainer layer is where the highest-value clients land after the products have already demonstrated ROI.

The math works at both stages. A contractor on the entry SaaS tier is profitable from day one. A contractor who upgrades to full-service becomes a $2,000–$5,000/month relationship. The products earn trust. The trust earns the retainer.

Revenue Model

TradesSnap — monthly subscription Recurring MRR
TradesLogic + TradesLook — upsell tiers Expanded MRR per client
Full-service marketing retainer $2,000 – $5,000/mo
Marginal cost per new SaaS client Near zero
Projected MRR at full-stack client maturity $10,000 – $15,000+

The competitive advantage

Generic marketing agencies don't understand the trades. Trades-focused software companies don't understand marketing. TradesXL is both — built by someone who spent years in the industry before building the tools. That combination of domain authority and AI capability is the moat.

A live product. A proven concept. A growing market.

TradesSnap is live. The core pipeline — voice note in, three publish-ready assets out — is proven. The brand architecture, the product roadmap, and the go-to-market strategy are built. The next phase is acquiring the first cohort of paying subscribers in Central Ohio and converting the strongest performers into full-service clients.

The long-game is a content moat. Every contractor using TradesSnap is building a compounding archive of hyper-local SEO content — 50, 100, 200 published case studies across every neighborhood they serve. That archive becomes harder for competitors to close every single week. TradesXL is not just selling a subscription; it's selling a permanent digital advantage.

The bottom line

TradesXL proves that deep industry expertise plus AI capability equals a category that didn't exist before. No one was building AI marketing infrastructure specifically for tradespeople, with the domain knowledge to make it actually work. Now there is. Built in Ohio, built for the trades, built to scale.
